One of the unique aspects of the University of Iowa is its placement in a very unique college town – Iowa City. Last weekend was one of those “only in Iowa City weekends.” It was the “Sand in the City 2011″ event where a section of Iowa Avenue was closed so that different groups could build sand castles. The “sand castles” were absolutely amazing in their level of detail and originality. There was live music, food and a large open sand pile where children could play. The weather too was great – low 80s, low humidity and sunny. A great time to walk the streets of Iowa City before school starts.
